Yesterday I went out with a good friend of mine, Renate, in the area of Bergen and Schoorl. Tiny House \u201cplot spotting\u201d. Because I\u2019m still full on searching for a plot for my soon-to-be newly built little house. What fun we had! Me behind the wheel, stopping here and there, and Renate getting out of the car to put my flyer in the mailboxes. Sometimes we both got out to each do a side of the street. I thought: let\u2019s boldly go where no woman has gone before and let\u2019s start with the Eeuwigelaan! For those of you who don\u2019t know the town of Bergen, that\u2019s about the most expensive street they have. Gorgeous place with lots of trees, so I thought: you never know! Small chance of course, but that did not stop us. So Renate and I were running up and down the street sticking flyers in mailboxes. If it doesn\u2019t pay out, at least we had fun.<\/p>\n

And what do you think? I just received an email form an Eeuwige Laan resident: sure, they\u2019ve got a spot for me, in the middle of the woods with my own entrance to the grounds to completely do my own thing! \u20ac1000 per month including gas, electrics and water! \u201cOh, and feel free to use our washer\/dryer\u201d. Hahaha, very amusing, ms Eeuwigelaan! I was able to laugh about it, as she probably did about me. I just replied to her that I needed to wait till the 10th of the month to see if I have won the lottery, but that I will contact her when I know more. ;)<\/p>\n\"Eeuwigelaan<\/a>\n

Of course, we didn\u2019t just visit the Eeuwigelaan; that would be silly. And this was only our first attempt. There will be many more, until I\u2019ve found my spot!<\/p>\n

Last week I also visited Ecodorp Bergen, or rather construction site Ecodorp Bergen, since there is still a lot that needs to be done. But it\u2019s an enthusiastic group of people who are doing well. I had a great time helping out for half a day and seeing what they are up to. What a job! I have great respect for them! It\u2019s really meant to be a living and working community and that\u2019s immediately where it sort of ends for me. I\u2019m definitely a social person, but at the same time I like being an einzelganger sometimes. To do everything, absolutely everything together, is not my thing.<\/p>\n

Living together, working together, having meals together\u2026 No, I want to be able to do my own thing. I would absolutely be prepared to contribute, for example working in a communal vegetable garden, but afterwards I would want to go home and cook something up for myself and just go to work or whatever.<\/p>\n

This would perhaps better suit me:\u00a0KomPost Zutphen<\/a>. Great project and more similar to what I\u2019m looking for, but unfortunately not in the Alkmaar area. But who knows what the future will bring? There are bound to be more initiatives like this in the making, and in the area! So until then I am hoping to find another spot, or a few spots to alternate between.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
