Last Saturday I met two nice and hugely enthusiastic Tiny House lovers. I came into contact with them through this blog and we went for lunch in Alkmaar. How great to talk to like-minded people! All three of us have completely different backgrounds, stories and plans, but at the same time so much in common. Three women who want something completely different. One wants to build her own Tiny House, which I think is so cool! One wants to travel with her boyfriend first, but after that is planning to transform a bus into a Tiny House. What a great plan! And then there is me, taking the easy road of having her Tiny House built for her. Well, easy, it takes quite a lot of planning and doing research, but I\u2019m just not very handy so I prefer to leave the building to the professionals. It doesn\u2019t matter how we reach our goals. What matters is trying to realize your dreams. And they do say the journey is supposed to be more important than the destination!<\/p>\n

Yes, I can surely picture this!<\/p><\/div>\n

And this week, I got not one but two emails from people who might have a spot for me! It was so quiet, I started to suspect this might be a bit more difficult than I anticipated. But wham, my efforts are starting to bear fruit! So tomorrow I\u2019ll hit the road again. First to meet a family living on a farm between Alkmaar and De Rijp who are looking to start an Eco-friendly community. We had a nice talk over the phone and I\u2019m looking forward to it. This feels good! After that I\u2019m off to see a spot in Groet which is only for the winter months, but it\u2019s beautiful there, so definitely worth visiting. And possibly I have a spot in Alkmaar, but that\u2019s not certain yet so I don\u2019t want to say too much about it. Gosh, I might have to choose! Which could be hard to do\u2026 It might sound a little crazy, but I\u2019m the kind of person who doesn\u2019t like to disappoint people, and sometimes I get it into my head that I do even though that might not be the case at all. I learned something about that in a training session the other day: don\u2019t assume, because when you do you make an \u2018ass\u2019 out of \u2018u\u2019 and \u2018me\u2019. I won\u2019t forget that one, let\u2019s hope I don\u2019t forget to use it either ;)<\/p>\n

Parallel to my search for a spot, I\u2019m also looking into ways of getting heating, water and electricity into my Tiny House. I want a wood burning stove, so I\u2019m busily researching which brand and model is suitable. Someone in a useful Facebook group pointed me to the Bekkasinen stove, which looks promising! It can burn up to 10\/12 hours on one load, which is exactly what I\u2019m looking for. It is quite pricy and it has no window\u2026 I would like to be able to look at the fire. But I haven\u2019t found a stove yet with a window that\u2019s also economical when it comes to heating, which is sort of the most important thing. Other interesting options are: Jotul F602, Morso 1412, 1442 or 2B, and I also came across the \u201cTraveller Stove\u201d. This one is a bit of more doubtful; it is made for use in yurts, tents, boats, etc. And in my Tiny House I don\u2019t need a portable stove. Luckily I have time to figure out which is the best one. Tips are welcome!!<\/p>\n
