It’s starting to become a huge operation, this little plan of mine, haha! It’s been keeping me busy. But that’s more than ok, otherwise I would only get bored! From now on you can also find me on Facebook, where I will post newsworthy things besides my blog articles to keep you posted on all these developments. Click the “like” button on the right and find out. :) Besides that I also have the Facebook page Tiny House Nederland, with 580 followers already and counting.
WWhat’s going on? First the big news: I’ve found a spot!! In earlier blog posts I told you about the Urban Earthship in Alkmaar, a project by Stichting SAWA (Stimulering Autarke Woningbouw Alkmaar e.o.). It’s a temporary 3-year experiment into sustainable and off-grid building and living. And my Tiny House fits perfectly in this experiment, of course, so the good people at SAWA gave me permission to put my Tiny House there and come live with them. Dear readers, I’m so happy with this! The whole project and everything that’s happening around it is a source of inspiration. I can’t wait!!

But first I need to get the financing of my Tiny House sorted, and that’s what I’m working on really hard right now. Unfortunately I don’t have the necessary amount in my bank account, so I’ve talked to a few banks. Because Triodos and ASN bank are known for their sustainable policy I contacted them first, but both banks said that they were not to be ready for a project like mine. Too bad, guys, you missed an opportunity! My application with the Rabobank is still ongoing, and I’m anxiously awaiting the result. I have good hopes, a steady job and no debts, so that should be ok. Besides that, I’m working on putting together a crowdfunding campaign. More about that when the time comes.
Furthermore, I came into contact with a student at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, who wants to make a documentary about “The Tiny House Movement” in the Netherlands. I get to play a part in it, so bring on the stylist, hairdresser =, make-up artist and limousine with champagne: I’m going on film! (FYI, I actually hate seeing myself on film, but all for the good cause, right. ;) ) And more and more people wanting to build a Tiny House find their way to me. I’m thinking about organizing a big Tiny House meeting in September, but maybe I should save that idea for after the move. I still need to continue downsizing, which has stagnated a bit and we can’t have that. There! I’m sure I forgot to mention loads of stuff, like my search for the ideal wood-burning stove and figuring out how to collect and filter rainwater and… that will be good for a next article. Have a good day!!
