How time flies! I’m starting to feel the pressure. Preferably I want to move into my Tiny House in August and catch a piece of summer, but June is almost half gone already! Maybe I shouldn’t raise the bar so high for myself ;) But on the other hand, that keeps everything moving forward and should the moment supreme turn out to be in September, then that’s fine too.
In the meantime I’ve reached another milestone: the loan has been finalised! After I’ve come up against a brick wall with Triodos and ASN bank, I went to the Rabobank and even though they were not too sure about the situation, they gave me the opportunity to take a personal loan. At the shocking interest rate of 8.4%…(gulp!) I was still delighted, because this meant my plan could go forward. But still, that interest rate was a bit too much for me. So I looked a bit further, talked to people about it and suddenly I got this awesome offer: someone in my circle of friends wants to loan me the money, at a much better rate! Apparently everything does work out sometimes. So the biggest part of the loan now is final, and I’m working on setting up a crowdfunding campaign to finance the last bit. By the way, a campaign like that turns out to be a load of work! That is, when you want to do it right. But also it is quite a journey and again I’m being aided by dear friends and acquaintances. I hope to launch my campaign on July 1st and then you can read all about it in a blog, for sure.
What’s next? Finishing the design!! Immediately after hearing the good news about the loan I sent Daniel at Hermit Houses a message to tell him the plan can go forward. By now I’ve got an entire spreadsheet full of ideas, each space has a neat separate tab since I’m an organizational freak ;) Next week we’ll get together to continue working on the design. This Friday Koen Derksen will visit me in my home to film me for his documentary about the Tiny House Movement in the Netherlands – a graduate project with the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht. As a sort of before – and hopefully later there will be an after – shoot. And in the meantime I’m happily continuing my search for a stove and a fridge, I’m figuring out the rainwater filtering, how many devices I can hook up to my solar energy system, etc.
So much to do, so little time! I’m starting to feel like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Or maybe I should just….. Zzzzzz…….
