A few weeks ago, Laurens phoned me, all excited, because he had spoken to someone from the Channel SBS6’ television program ‘Your own dream home’ and he had told them about me. He wondered whether it was okay to give them my contact details. Of course, I was very curious, so I agreed. Not long after that I received an email from Helder TV enquiring whether I was interested in joining the program. Well, yes of course! However, they had to check with the powers that be as to whether my project could participate on the show. Unfortunately, they had enough projects on at that time, but they were really interested in it and have put it on the reserve list.
I was rather disappointed as this would have been a great opportunity to put the spotlight on Tiny Houses and to reach a wider audience. And it would potentially have opened new doors for my project such as sponsorship deals. Oh well, tough luck. But being on the reserve list is at least something. I just let it go and figured that if this didn’t happen then something else would come along – and by golly it did! I received a note from Helder TV last week that one of their projects had fallen through and whether I was still interested…. Well, I had to think about it… YES, of course!! :) My namesake from Helder TV dropped by yesterday for a meet and greet at my place and we are excited to get started!

However, I had agreed on a timeline with Laurens and Lena to complete the house by May. Unfortunately, that’s a bit too late for the program; it really needs to finish by the end of April as the final episode will be broadcast in May. We discussed it with the team and luckily it looks like end of April is achievable. It does hinge on whether the chosen builder has the time – and motivation – for the project. Are you curious whom we have chosen? Tadaaaa: Dimka Wentzel of www.tiny-house.nl !! J. I have been in touch with Dimka for some time and I am convinced of his ability to create a really lovely house and that we will all work really well together as a team. We still need to meet to finalise a few things, but I have a good feeling about this and am very happy with Dimka on board.
So, now it’s important to get together for a brainstorming session! The design needs to be finalised in December and we need to start ordering materials so that we can really start building in February. I’m so happy to see things actually happening!
