A few words on the situation in the world (Paris attacks)
I have noticed that I am more easily triggered than usual lately. Perhaps that is not surprising, especially after last Friday. I am sad, irritated and angry. What a world; such suffering! It is difficult not to get swept up in a negative spiral, difficult to continue to see that there are also good things going on. To realise that there are many people who do not want this violence. I believe most people wish to live in peace and are willing to help each other out when in need. Let’s not let all this negative news make us turn against each other. And let’s, for God’s sake, not forget that the people seeking shelter in the safer zones of Europe are fleeing from the same kind of violence that struck us on Friday. Let’s also remember that there are people far from us facing violence like this on a daily basis. Although I don’t feel that my blog is the right platform to write about this, I felt the need to do it. Because it has been on my mind constantly and it somehow doesn’t feel right to just keep doing all the usual things when such shocking things are happening in the world. However, I shall leave it at that.
Tiny House Bergen
Last Friday Monique and I continued writing our proposal for the council of Bergen NH, in which we request several plots for Tiny Houses. Last week we had a conversation with 2 gentlemen from the council, and there definitely is interest! We agreed to hand in our proposal on December 1st, after which Melvin and Willem Teun will research the options and solutions to possible challenges. We have a group of 8 people in the meantime who would like to live together in their own Tiny Houses in Bergen, and this would be a pilot group. How wonderful would it be if I could put my own house in Bergen in May next year! Monique and I jumped in the car to have a look at some of the potential sites, which was fun and made us so excited!
Ontwikkelingen rond mijn huisje
The trailer has been ordered, woohoo! And not just any trailer, but one especially developed for building a Tiny House. Bernie from ‘Our Tiny Haus Adventure’ and Dimka have joined forces to develop an optimal design that meets all the requirements as well as being customisable. The trailer will be produced by Vlemmix trailers. If you are interested, send either Dimka or Bernie.
I’m also busy looking for a place to build my Tiny House and doing my research on materials, sponsors, etc. All on top of my 34-hour workweek, pfff ;). But I’m not complaining; I’m having the time of my life!
Lena, Laurens and Vincent are busy designing in the meantime; we will get together again on November 27th to discuss the progress. There will also be some shooting for the televison show ‘Your own Dreamhome’ that day. They will not only be designing the exterior, but also the interior of the house, which is logical given how many fixed elements there are in such a small space. I feel really blessed with this team and can’t wait until the 27th. I find it quite challenging to let go and let Lena, Laurens and Vincent do ‘their thing’. It is, after all, the house I will be living in for the foreseeable future. But I am certain that they will take my needs into account and do their utmost to create a design that will make us all happy.
So that will all be fine, but when the design is final there will still be many decisions to be made concerning colours, materials and fabrics in the interior. Because I’m not so great with styling, I have asked for help from Roos Hensen. Roos provides interior advice based on Feng Shui principles, which appeals to me. Roos writes on her website: ‘a good-looking interior is not enough, it also has to feel right’, and I totally agree with that. I am therefore very pleased that Roos is enthusiastic about my project and wants to help. Thank you, Roos!
