My heart is beating like crazy: I’ve been invited as a guest on the RTLZ program ‘Van Liempt Live’ to talk about the Tiny House movement. The broadcast is Monday 25th April from 22:00 to 23:00. Wow! What an amazing opportunity…do I have what it takes? What if I mess up and can only stammer like an idiot? So cool though! And exciting! This is really great. More focus on the Tiny House movement!! Ok, calm down Marjolein, you can do this. Put the ‘but who am I’ voice in the cooler; it’s not helping. Moreover, there is so much more happening in your life right now, this is no time to freak out.
Tomorrow also is an important day; I expect to receive news about a site for my Tiny House in Alkmaar. I can’t really say much about it except that is in the hands of Alkmaar city council. I pray, light candles and keep my fingers crossed that they have the balls to say yes. Come on Alkmaar, now is the time, now is the future! Take the opportunity to be a pioneer and champion this movement which will only grow further!
I will let it go; I can’t do anything more. Last Monday I worked on a backup plan, visiting camping and recreation sites in Bergen to ask if I would be permitted to live there temporarily. One of them initially said yes but that was later reversed by the board; it is not permitted to reside on site, only recreation is allowed. The second one said yes but did not want any media attention and the rate is 19 euros per night or 1500 euros for one season. Pfffff! That’s no good. So now we wait until tomorrow! I have given notice for the rent on my apartment as of 1st June – so there is no way back. Not that I would want to, since I am convinced it will all work out.
As for my house? Tomorrow I will see it again with the first part of the ModiWood cladding. The Bruynzeel kitchen will also be fitted tomorrow, something I really look forward to. Helder TV will be coming to film, as well as a photography student from the Art Academy in The Hague. Some other students from the Thomas More school in Mechelen will also be coming all the way from Belgium to make a recording. Peter Jacobs from Jacobs Timmerfabriek will drop by to see his beautiful frames mounted in my house and Sander from Bruynzeel kitchens will be there with the mechanic to take a few snapshots. A busy day; I am looking forward to it! J. I will, of course, also try to take some good pictures for the website. Here is a sample:

On Saturday from noon to 16:00 Monique and I will be on the market square of Broekerveiling shopping centre in Broek op Langedijk for an open invitation to the meeting ‘Living together in Langedijk’. This progressive housing association would like to discover the future of housing together with its members. They are interested in small sustainable homes and have asked Tiny House Netherlands to provide information. It’s a home game for me, so that’s fun!
Off to bed early tonight; the mechanic will be there very early tomorrow and I have quite a way to drive. Don’t forget to watch on Monday evening!
