The online course ‘Your Tiny House – from dream to reality’ that I developed together with Monique van Orden is available since April this year. More than 70 students have started the course and the feedback is really positive. Besides the ten online classes, we organise a live course meeting four times a year, and we invite an expert in an area that’s related to Tiny Houses and the tiny lifestyle. For the next meeting on September 8th in Culemborg, we have got you the first certified KonMari Consultant in the Netherlands!
In the basic course we’ve spent a whole class on decluttering: a topic that you will come across one way or another when you want to live in a Tiny House. If you feel the need to get some extra advice next to the tips and tricks in the course, we recommend you come to this meeting. Maaike Fris is a professional organizer and uses the KonMari method to help you create order in the chaos of having too many things. She’ll give an inspiring lecture about her profession on that day:
‘I’m Maaike Fris, 28 years and I live in Koog aan de Zaan. After getting acquainted with the KonMari method I got the chance to make a living out of my biggest hobby: decluttering as a professional organizer. Combined with my background as a teacher, I developed the concept ‘Lessons in Harmony’. With Lessons in Harmony I help people create a ‘cleaned-up and organised living environment, with calm and harmony as center points.’
Maaike is also really good at the art of folding, next to being a KonMari expert. At the meeting she’ll share more about these techniques and she’ll give you tips and tricks so you can make a start cleaning up:
‘The method is based on asking the question ‘Does this make me happy?’ with every belonging you have. From a piece of clothing you just bought to a birthday present from a faraway friend. Only keep the things that are really important for you: get rid of the rest. By surrounding yourself with things that make you happy, you’ll learn to appreciate these more.’
The course meeting will be on Saturday the 8th of September from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and will only be available for students of the online basic course ‘Your Tiny House – from dream to reality’.
